  1. Not refugees. Refugee = a person who has been forced to leave their COUNTRY in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster.

  2.  Eidelmania  Do you see how COUNTRY is in caps? These people didn't leave their COUNTRY. They had to move into a motel after their homes burnt down, mostly in the same community.

  3.  Eidelmania  I disagree. It's just not the proper word to use. They could have called it displacement, homeless, or something else, just as easily. In this case, I think that VICE has a certain narrative and wants to keep following it. They have talked about climate refugees in the past and this is what they are providing as an at home example, it's simply not accurate to call these people refugees. Language and words used to convey a message are important, especially if you are in the business of providing news and current events.
