@gnarbyq4667 That gave me a chuckle. I agree with you, drug use and other mistakes play a huge role in where many, probably most, are at. There needs to be a solution that deals with people that actively chose not to fit into society's norms. That being said, those people don't account for everyone experiencing homelessness. Mental health, poor upbringing, and life altering occurrences, such as a death may affect a person dramatically. You say I am a bleeding heart, I disagree. Through work I have dealt with all walks of life that have ended up in a bad place, not all are by their actions alone.

@gnarbyq4667 You are painting in broad strokes here. Did the person who was poor and developed a severe mental health disorder their fault? You expected them to have "personal agency" and figure it out? You keep talking about people who make terrible decisions. I am saying it is not as black and white as that. There are people who have not chosen "a life of degeneracy". I would suggest there is, in part, companies that make billions off of helping the homeless but make very little headway. They may not be causing it, but they also aren't solving it.
