  1. "It is fair to say that Cleopatra was European" Is it though? I would say that it would be fair to call her "Mediterranean". I don't think she has any more in common with the Germans over the Rhine or Danube, as she does with the peoples south of the Sahara.

  2.  @kostasbiker9302  If we're going to be drawing lines, the Mediterranean united more than it divided. Land-based geographic features (the Sahara, the Rhine) divided more than they united. It's a different way of looking at things, and I think it's valuable in this context. It would be more appropriate to have Cleopatra played by a Spaniard than by a Dane, I think.
