  1. "How will we socialize homeschooled children?" -- Sequestering children amongst only those in their age cohort (an experience that they will not see anywhere else in life), actually degrades their socialization. Dealing with a wide variety of ages, of people who are (as a rule) more mature than they are, gives them a huge advantage in socializing. Being exposed to a wide variety of professions and trades, as opposed to just "teachers" who lack the specialized expertise to actually teach anything, is an incredible advantage in giving kids ideas about how they can themselves make a living. Homeschooling is as much better than regimented schooling, as families are better than orphanages.
