From Earth to the Moon is based on Americans in Baltimore and Philadelphia making a bet with one another, and Philadelphia is also home to some of the action in Robur the Conqueror. Around the World in 80 Days has the crazy-resourceful and the just-plain-crazy types. Verne is in some ways a chronicler of America's legendary past. Revisiting him would be a whole lot of fun.
