@daveofyorkshire301 I kind of hate to point this out, I've met some Spaniards that I like very much, but they haven't been relevant in world politics since before America took Cuba and the Philippines away from them in 1900 or so.

@daveofyorkshire301 Even German-Americans were distancing themselves from the Old Country, at the time. The Lutheran Hymnal's 1941 edition, changed the tune to the hymn "Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken, Zion City of our Lord" from a nice little piece by Haydn, simply because that piece was also the tune to "Deutschland, Deutschland, uber alles".
