"They haven't found the right man" They haven't found the 9 or 10 that doesn't mind that they're a 4 or 5? Yeah, not going to happen. To be fair, they're told that their career raises their value -- which is one of the biggest lies modern women are told. If anything, overcommittment to a career is a huge turn-off.

@HerWanderlust Allowing people to persist in their delusions may be "delightful" temporarily, but the consequences we're seeing now are far less delightful. Don't worry, once you come around to the truth, I'll let you think it was your own idea. =)

@marlonmoncrieffe0728 Ever had a relationship with a woman who worked 100 hours a week?

"If you can only get s** having a job and a house, you'll be motivated to do those things" And with the housing market as out-of-reach as it is, compounded by the necessity of the two-income household? "If we had some ham, we could have ham and eggs, if we had some eggs."

"I think about the Fall of Rome" It's better to think about the formation of the Roman Republic -- it started with the rejection of polygyny. Brutus rejected the king's right to have whatever woman he wanted, and went on to form a more stable, equitable society.

"It's about reproduction, and one man with many women is the historic norm" I dunno, if the monogamous norm has held for thousands of years, isn't _that_the norm instead? Long-term, if everyone has a shot at reproducing, this increases your genes' chances the most. If your sons are likely to have grandsons, and your grandsons are likely to have great-grandsons, you're going to be best off. Also, talent doesn't follow one generation on another -- otherwise, we wouldn't consider nepotism to be the enemy of meritocracy.

"You're not selling pregnancy very well" How about looking at it like, "There are all these obvious downsides, but the upsides are enough that I'm doing it anyway "?

The human population growth rate is on a pendulum. As the "no thanks" types leave the stage, they will be replaced by "I love having kids" types. Women who are okay with being on the pill, are also going to leave the world, to be replaced by women who don't want to take it for whatever reason.

@ryanlee6291 You're still making the mistake that "success and independence" is the same value in a woman as in a man. The kind, beautiful waitress who lives with her parents can be a 9 or 10. The assertive, workaholic CEO only thinks she's a 9 or 10 (because that's what she might be, if she were a man), when she's at best a 3 or 4 -- or more likely, or not a woman who should be inflicted on any man, no matter his sins. Anything that makes a woman a worse mom, drives her rating down. This is the fundamental thing feminists (male or female) don't understand.

"France had a marked birthrate decline at the beginning of the 19th century" Is there any tie between losing a war (or losing a large chunk of population in a war) and birth rate decline? Germany, Japan, and Korea are famous for cratering birthrates after their conflicts, and neutral Sweden seems to be doing better than the rest of Europe.

"Using the pill within marriage can be good" Except that it changes whether a woman's attracted to her husband.

"I think of the fall of Rome, with aristocrats not having kids" That happened at the fall of the Republic, at the very beginning of the Empire. Augustus Caesar was concerned about this, after having been responsible for proscribing massive numbers of noble families.
