  1. We used to have "volunteering coordinators" in every small community in the country -- they were called pastors, ministers, priests, what have you. Secularization has cost England (and every other country that's tried it) more than it's gained.

  2. I'm sorry, but you don't meet people "of different backgrounds" at university. You meet people from households where the expectations are that you go to university. That's an EXTREMELY limited group of people -- the sort that make jokes about never going back to where they came from, and see stocking shelves at Tesco as being a horrible fate for only the most failed people. Britain hasn't had its Donald Trump yet. America isn't done with the guy that can talk to and has mutual admiration for the construction workers building his buildings.
