"Everyone wants to feel special, we need to get rid of that need" Er, or we could pair off in marriages where the husband thinks his wife is the most special person in the world, and the wife thinks her husband is the most special person in the world, and they both think their kids are extraordinarily special as well. This is quite in line with human nature -- biological instinct, even. The bonus here is that society progresses from one generation to the next when this is encouraged (or at least normalized) throughout the entire population.
