"At what point are we going to be honest with ourselves, and say we're failing our children?" The point when we: - End no-fault divorce - Stop celebrating and start demonizing single mothers

@DoReMeaCulpa Exceptions make bad law. The problem is getting worse because we've been using your diagnosis and recommendations. It's time to change that.

@bogdanalupascu1406 I think that anyone with experience with Family Court will nod their heads in agreement. Those without experience, need to pay attention to those who have experience.

@DoReMeaCulpa I think you underestimate the amount of value the sort of women who voluntarily become single mothers (the vast majority, nowadays), get from the unearned honors we heap upon them. (By the way, if you read what I wrote closely and pay attention to actual family law statistics, you'll see that this is the vast majority of the group I'm heaping scorn upon. Women who are single mothers involuntarily are a vanishingly small sliver of that demographic these days, to the point that social mores should not be based on their situation.) I think you also underestimate the amount of damage that fatherless children suffer, as a direct result of their mothers' selfish decisions. The simple fact is, that family life in most countries around the world starts to collapse when single motherhood is perversely exalted instead of properly humiliated. People don't avoid behaviors, and don't change once they make habits of them, unless they know that these sorts of consequences await them. Women are especially sensitive to this kind of incentive and disincentive. It's foolish not to use it.
