  1. Honestly though? I like the shiny. I like the explorations of how new technology can help humanity in its eternal struggle to survive and to thrive. The Right Stuff, Elon Musk, Red Mars / Green Mars / Blue Mars, all that good stuff. The descent to wallow nihilistic madness, without any hope of redemption, is ultimately anti-human. (I still haven't forgiven KSR for Aurora, if you couldn't tell.) The MCU got it pretty much perfect. Nihilistic Thanos, claiming that he is "inevitable" -- trumped by technological humanity, represented by the epic, simple phrase -- "I'm Iron Man."
