Peter, as an anti-Christian atheist, you ARE an enemy of Western Civilization. This would not be happening in a society where Christian morality still held sway. Atheism has nothing to replace it with, and the only things that come close, are actually Christian ideas molded by the Reformation.

Hi Dave. If Gaza were turned into a concentration camp and you were pressed into service as a guard there, would you enjoy your work?
2
@alexcastro-bz7nl I think the phrase you're looking for is "Defund the police unions". When I hear that phrase catching on, I'll believe you. Until then, I suspect you're just grasping at straws to defend a position that's really not defensible.

People are starting to notice the patterns, the deliberate targeting of weaknesses in our system -- law enforcement (especially DAs), academia (biases in hiring and tenure), corporate personnel (HR departments). It's a relief that this is being taken seriously.

Children are important. Unless we discover the secret of immortality, this will always be so. In 100 years (several generations), whatever culture has survived will be a culture whose norms reflect this reality. (This is currently the biggest reason to bet against the Western Civilization that we're trying to preserve here.) Dave is making massive efforts here, and it's interesting to watch. However, the fact that those efforts have to be so massive, speaks against them as to their broad practicality.

@dbefore7165 That's right, the only counter-argument against this is downright anti-human nihilism. You'll have to forgive the rest of us for rejecting that. =)

Larry Elder works for The Epoch Times, doesn't he? Word is that they're associated with Falun Gong. Is everyone associated with the Elder campaign prepared to counteract potential Chinese Communist Party interference in the recall election?

46:00 Re: Milo.... a lot of the same points were coming out when Berkeley was discussing under what circumstances people like him could speak. Basically, the Berkeley faculty is acting as if Berkeley is a private (religious!) institution where they get to control the message.

"Way to fast" ==> "Way too FAR". FTFY

Mike Pence is a decent man. If the last of his constituents died in the 2010s, that would explain why we're in this mess. It would also light a fire under us to raise a new generation of them, because without that, America as we know and love it is gone beyond recall.

@PerfectlM I saw a guy crouch down and fill his pants at a D-Day celebration in front of a lot of world leaders and veterans who were there on the day. I don't know why his family wasn't protecting him from embarrassments like that, it was on national TV and all across the Internet. Some people just abuse the elderly, I guess. I'm not sure why anyone is okay with it.
1
"New York Times - a former newspaper" Fox listens to Klavan!
1
Why is Professor Peterson such a target? One of the early names for the "Intellectual Dark Web" that its critics / rivals used to apply, was the "Alternative Influencers Network". That's very telling. JBP is putting together a way of making sense of the world, that runs contrary to the will of a large group of "influencers". That puts a target on his back.
1
"And they just don't push back" If you don't push back, you're on a slippery slope.
1
Remember the old days, when England and France were trying to kick each other out of India? Well, I'm inclined to support India, if it wants to kick China out of Canada these days. =)

Cold War 2 is Authoritarian Bureaucracy vs. Liberty-minded Democracy. The question of CW1 was, "How do we maximize the creation and allocation of wealth that the Industrial Revolution produces?" The question of CW2 is, "How do we maximize the creation and allocation of expertise that the Information Revolution produces? Central planning is not the right answer in either case.
1
Campaign donations by a public employee union should count criminally as a "kickback".
1
There's a huge amount of room for intuition, as the human mind doesn't seem capable of consciously processing of all the observations the senses collect. Morality, religion, poetry art, literature, and other fuzzy subjects draw from this realm.
1
"Do you ever get the impression that you're hitting close to something very powerful, and you're putting yourself at risk continuing?" Whatever he's hitting close to is probably more of a de*on than anything else -- it would be riskier for Russell to quit, than it would be to keep going.

From what I've seen of atheists, I don't believe that they are willing to subordinate themselves to someone else's good ideas -- even a rejection of the thought and experience of past humanity. Conservatism itself is a sense of humility in our approach to the voices of the past. There are some mistakes that are too critical to have every generation blunder its way through them.

Agree on emphasis, disagree on absolutist semantics

Keep asking those small business owners to run for governor, or other offices -- you'll find the one that will beat Gavin Newsom sooner than you think! =)
1
The Woke are people who WANT to be good, but aren't allowed to be Christian anymore. Peter, they are coming for you now at the rear ranks, because you have spent your life shooting your defenders in the back.
1
@blairrobert3438 Did the British troops break? No, but the Old Guard did. Two things are apparent -- we don't read the same historians, and half of your comment supports my conclusion.
1
If we're sick of sitting around at home, is there a way we can volunteer to help at a local hospital, maybe get some training now to help later, if things get crazy?
1
@ccdavis94303 They're complaining about English cops. It's completely fabricated.
1
"Why did the vaccine passports end? Why did they pull back?" Because keeping all that up is a lot of work -- it's too much of a pain in the a** to keep the paperwork updated.
1
Guys, what Gina Carano did was trespass on their private grievance-weapon. It is not a period of history that everyone is allowed (even encouraged!) to learn from, NO ONE is allowed to use that blunt instrument but them. As a result, NO ONE will actually learn from that period in history, making another Holocaust all but inevitable.
1
Twitter won't get rid of Conservative eyeballs, but they WILL try to turn Conservatives into Lefties. So, they'll cut off all the voices they can, if they think it won't cost them eyeballs.
1
"What happened to Nancy Pelosi's eyebrows?" That's completely natural, obviously reflecting the permanent fear she feels from the events of 6Jan. Ya gotta respect how she commits to the bit. I'm not sure even Nick Cage ever went that far.
1
Dr. Fauci needs to be fired. If the government wants us to trust them, that is Step 1.
1
He looks like Odo, from DS9.
1
"If we can get these corporations on our side, maybe we can get them to get these politicians to cave" Not only that, they blackmail activism operations money out of these corporations. It's sick, and companies need recourse.
1
I suspect that people with "posh" backgrounds are aware at some level that they cheated to get where they are. To stay where they are, they cheat some more, and go with the winds of fashion.
1
It's fascinating to see how Dave's efforts to procreate interact with this discussion.
1
Wow. Just, wow. It could all be coming out, finally.
1
"Low-information" Everyone is high-information, about what is happening in their individual life.
1
What's the best way to volunteer to help? It sounds like they may need emergency personnel, and getting a little bit of training before things to really crazy would make sense.
1
Crowder was showing people the truth about the election as it unfolded. Google wants to cover up the shenanigans that went on. That's why they're doing this, and it's why they're not giving a straight answer. "Fraud Cover-up" doesn't appear on their forms.
1
If your rights might curtail the Left's will to power to reshape society in whatever nihilistic way they see fit, your rights must be destroyed. If your rights come from God, the Left must do everything they can to separate you from God. It is not possible for a free society to allow Leftists to have power.
1
Well, they needed some way to reverse the raise that Trump's policies gave to the American working classes. These are evil people who want regular Americans to suffer.
1
The algorithm really dislikes people who point out that something has to be done, to reduce regular Americans' prosperity. I mean, the American worker's buying power rose for the first time in decades, under Trump's policies. The elites have to claw that back somehow.
1
The reason the riots are happening now, is that the economic shutdown threw a large number of people (including a large number of African-Americans whose fortunes had just started to turn for the better) out of work.
1
I have a question for you two gentlemen: Do you remember what happened to political figures -- the "adults in the room" -- when any of them came out against gay marriage, for whatever reason? What do you suppose the "adults in the room" have become afraid of, if they fail to forget what we all knew 15 minutes ago? We have lost any kind of maturity and backbone in our political class, but thank goodness we got that marriage thing sorted.
1
Yup. And this isn't the only time he's talked about it.
1
"Republicans never do anything" is not as true as it was six months ago.
1
So, we know that there are dozens of intelligence agents we should no longer trust.
1
We're doomed, aren't we.
1
@aranisles8292 20th century. We need to get back in touch with our roots. "Joy to the World", "What Child Is This?", and the rest. Over the centuries, every generation contributes one or two. That's all.
1
Kamala Whorish is just a trashy person. She will do anything, cheat anything, betray any sense of honor, for her ambitions.
