  1. 35:30 ish -- What they're talking about here is something Jung calls synchronicity. Jung gets a bit mystical about it which is very grating to modern sensibilities (although if you think about mysticism as stemming from deep synchronicity, instead of the other way around, it makes more sense). I think that it isn't right to either dismiss synchronicity (as Adams seems to) or believe it's more powerful than it is (as Jung seems to). The fact is we're sub-rational (or, intuitive) in the same way that a software AI is sub-rational. We make connections. We see patterns. Much of the time there is no physical mechanic (no real connection) underlying those patterns (we then call the pattern a "superstition", or "false hypothesis".) But much of the time the pattern is simply badly framed or impossible to consciously articulate, and the connections form a real pattern based on a physical mechanic we have not yet discovered or thought through.
