@nevrcm3261 Kids only ever have one father. Stepfathers (unrelated men in a household; stepmothers too, for that matter) are actually a risk to kids.

One thing that doesn't come up here, is when they dismissed the idea of Dave's sister contributing, they closed down the option of both of them being related to the child. Children who grow up in households with unrelated adults are at risk, plain and simple. I doubt that in all cases with unfortunate results, the step-parents came into the situation with bad intentions.
