  1. Two sides to the "modern music in church" coin -- 1) Americans worship in a certain way. They should worship God in that way. 2) Worshiping God is sacred (meaning, set aside). It's appropriate to worship God in a way that is set aside for just worshiping God. Some worshipers prefer 1 over 2, or vice versa. Interesting to note: Martin Luther personally believed that the pipe organ was too associated with popular pagan entertainment (theater) of the day. Nowadays it's hard to separate the Lutheran style of worship from the music of J. S. Bach, some of the most famous of which are organ pieces. I'm curious -- Is there a "J. S. Bach" of American worship music?
