Old people are not the only people whose immune systems aren't effective; sometimes that ineffectiveness can arise from deliberate personal choices. These people had influence and wished to remain anonymous. The only way they could protect themselves, was to imprison the rest of us.

  5. The Industrial Revolution spawned the first Cold War. The Information Revolution has spawned a new Cold War. This time it's over how best to produce and distribute expertise. Saving liberty-minded democracy from authoritarian bureaucracy is going to require at least as great an effort as we had to expend in Cold War 1. Worse, our government is even more infested with authoritarian bureaucrats than it was with communist sympathizers during Cold War 1.

Most people who allow themselves to be influenced by evidence don't really care about who's in authority, because authority doesn't matter to them; only people who want their delusions affirmed, are so keen on capturing authority to impose their delusions on the rest of us.
