"What Dave Rubin did to have kids is expensive and ethically fraught, and not scalable to large populations" It's also practically fraught -- to his credit, he first asked his sister for a contribution, so that both Dave and David would be related to the child. However, his sister refused, intuiting that it would be awkward to see her own child as another's. It's a well-documented fact that having unrelated adults in a house drastically increases the chance of abuse. While Dave may do just fine, again this is not scalable to larger populations, and something really has to be scalable to be a norm (practically by definition.)
