In the most conservative liturgical churches of today, (Protestant, at least), you spend about thirty seconds confessing your sins before being presented with plenary Grace and absolution, wiping your slate clean. At that point you get to the work of learning what, ideally, you should (in gratitude) actually be doing with your life. If you show up the following week having screwed up, and go through that again, no one bats an eye because they're all in the same boat you are.
