  1. "Socialism doesn't mean we all wear potato sacks" The best A/B test of Capitalism vs. Communism was West Germany vs. East Germany. I toured both Germanies in 1990, right after the wall came down and right before Reunification. East Germans had worse clothes, worse food, worse buildings, worse cars, worse buildings... there was basically no measure, where the Ossies could claim their lives were better than the Wessies. None. Socialism is not better than Capitalism. A little bit of welfare state might be useful to keep social order from breaking down, but generally, having everyone paying their own way is the way to a healthier population and economy.
