@causewaykayak Wasn't Trump acquitted of this already, in his second impeachment?

@alostcause4035 Being deprived of rights or privileges under the law, is a punishment.

To be fair, Lincoln's first preference was to negotiate, too.

@alostcause4035 That's called "being punished".

@alostcause4035 Please publish a video of your reaction when Trump is sworn in next year. =)

@alostcause4035 Technically it would require a Bill of Attainder, to punish Trump for a perceived crime without first going through the trial process. That's prohibited by Article 1, section 9, clause 3 of the Constitution.

Magnets still work underwater. An electromagnet might short out, and rust is not magnetic, but water won't prevent the magnet from working. You can de-magnetize a magnet by heating it up past its "Curie Point", although heat can temporarily degrade a magnet's performance at significantly lower temperatures.

@anerrantknight8077 Legislation in various states has forced political parties (which I agree, are private) to hold "open primaries" where non-members can vote. I don't know if this has simply never been challenged, or if the courts have ruled that Constitutionally each state legislature has final say on this particular aspect how elections are held in their own state (so long as they are "republican" in form).
