We won't survive four more years of an insane lockdown, that's true enough. Up until February, what exactly was going on that mean we "wouldn't survive" if we kept it up?

@thejquinn UBI is a pipe dream, from people with no concept of what money actually is or how it works, what productivity is and how it works, or human beings' need for purpose and how that works either. Lotus-eating is superficially very appealing, but you can't actually live on lotuses.

@thejquinn $1200 in a California major metro area lasts a family less than a week. It's a pittance, and $1200 for everyone in the country amounts to half a trillion dollars. It's just not sustainable. And if you don't balance it out with productivity, all you're doing is boosting inflation -- which is showing up in record stock markets and in asset (housing) prices that destroy any hopes of upward mobility. Free money, and the attitudes that underpin free money, are some of the most destructive things in the world. That said, there might actually be something we agree on here. I'm not a supporter of big banks. "Too big to fail" means "Too big", and they should be broken up. I think Glass-Steagall should be reinstated as well. Guess what the Democrats want to do? Regulate and control, which pushes the banks to engage in regulatory capture, which means payola for the regulators.

@thejquinn Wait, what? $1200 doesn't in any meaningful way qualify as "Universal Basic Income". Thinking UBI as a solution is a pipe dream, and nothing that I said could be realistically (or in good faith) construed otherwise. Even though I'd be justified in walking away from this conversation at this sign you're not interested in good-faith discussion, I'd still like to connect with you about the utter corruption that our regulatory state has caused regarding the banking industry. What do you think of breaking up "too big to fail" banks, instead of just fusing them with government through a corrupt regulatory apparatus?

@thejquinn Claiming that a one-off payment of $1200 qualifies as a universal basic income is a sign of a complete ignorance of economic matters. Good day.

@thejquinn Allegedly, I was offered a paltry and insignificant compensation for the Government taking away my freedom to make a living. I haven't seen a check yet. I am familiar enough with economics to know that the government has no actual means to compensate me adequately. And, because productivity is shut down as well, even if I had that money, there's a whole lot less to buy with it, making inflation even more serious. Are you seriously trying to defend those checks as "UBI"? Because, it's worth emphasizing again, they're a colossal failure as such.

@thejquinn Eh, just kind of bored, really.... and you really do make it easy to shoot down your arguments. Seriously, do you really believe in this UBI stuff or are you just here to troll?
