And when people investigate it, they find The Narrative(TM) is wrecking its credibility on the rocks of these facts. This is why they double down on the only weapon they have -- basically, controlling lies -- and since they still have power in the world, we have conflict. This can only end with the destruction of The Narrative(TM) for a generation, and they know it, and it drives them mad with terror.
