"They don't like that regular people can out-compete them" "It hurts their bureaucracy" It hurts their idea of the manufactured "Cursus honorum" corporate ladder bulls**t, where your place in the system is not determined by what you can accomplish that benefits your customers, but on how you are used as a chess piece for someone else's personal ambitions. They are being blown out of the water by people who can serve customers. This is nothing but good.

  5. Tolkien talks about moments in the war, when his regiment literally marched to save another regiment that would otherwise have been overwhelmed. Tolkien's works ring true because they ARE true -- not only true, but true in ways that we want reality to actually BE. And he knows they only get that way if you have the map and the timetable right. Contrast that with George Martin, draft-dodger, who scrapes up all the wrongness of pre-Christian Europe, slops it together with sketchy magic and implicit teleportation, and says "See? See? Isn't it REAL?" I will be very happy when his works are finally consigned to the dustbin of history, and people are ashamed they ever looked up to them.
