  1. "People will respond to reinforcement" ... and that is related to sunk cost fallacy, which differs one person to another. The more willing you are to dump your time in with less reward, the less companies will give you. The more people who are less willing to invest the time, the more the companies companies will given them so they can can cash in on them. Isn't that ka-ching supposed to be a good thing?

  2. Companies want people subscribing consistently from one content drop to another. It makes financial sense to make sure people can experience the "point where the game is fun" endgame content no matter how much they actually play. This will always motivate companies to nerf drops for powergamers.
