  1. Being an "ally" will not save you. You can mastermind and execute the plan to destroy the Confederacy at the cost of hundreds of thousands of your own side's lives. You can put it under military subjugation to ensure it will not rise again. You can violently suppress the Klan so that they are destroyed for a generation. And these rioters will still tear you down. Do what you do because it's the right thing to do, and find people of all races who are willing to build another statue of Ulysses S Grant twenty feet high. Defend it against any who would tear it down, and throw them into prison for being the enemies of any chance of an order that benefits everyone.

  2. How are Americans using race today as a means to leverage power? BLM. Affirmative action. I could go on. Not seeing race is an improvement in our ethical progress as human beings.
