  13. Giving someone in steep geriatric decline authorization for ANYTHING is a staggering abdication of responsibility on the part of Congress. This is a golden opportunity to be stripping the Executive branch of excess accretions of power that have occurred over decades. I hope these Congresscritters can be removed from office in the fall before they get the world blown up.

  15.  @CapnCoconuts  There are Libertarians who celebrate 10th century Iceland as a workable state, where equals got together and decided justice without any overarching power other than the law. Njall's Saga outlined how that went. Christianity, the philosophical system that replaced Libertarianism in Iceland, calls for a civil government with limited powers (i.e., to keep order, and that's about it.) I'm in favor of that.

  18.  @UserBeenBanned  Yes, the armory at Lexington that the redcoats were going to raid in 1775, had cannons there too. The part where this gets sticky, is with highly advanced weapon systems whose workings are classified. There are administrative regulations from State (ITAR) and Commerce (EAR) among others, that govern those situations. It's a good idea to limit private ownership of those types of weapon systems (and knowledge about them), to those who can be trusted not to sell them to our country's enemies. The background checks for that get fairly detailed, and certainly shouldn't be required of anyone who wants to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights.

There's a psychology professor from the University of Toronto who was interested in what motivated these people, so he made an effort to read whatever writings they had left behind. Turns out, they're primarily motivated by resentment against the world around them, become hostile to existence itself, and take it out on the most innocent people they can find. This professor compares this to the motivation of Cain.

  22.  @ahmadjewett7496  There are the extra steps, of being politically active in your school boards (to protect children from their propaganda) and in your local, state, and national votes (to physically protect children and have these degenerates thrown in jail). More and more people are taking those steps, thanks to heroes like Matt Walsh.

  37. Look, you don't have to fire a lot of people when there are failures like this. In fact, firing people tightens the system up even more, as people get defensive about their livelihood. What you want to do is TRANSFER people, as rapidly as possible, out of roles they are unsuited for, and INTO roles they ARE suited for. It's basically declaring war on the "Peter Principle". It's hard enough to fight against peoples' ambition, that's true, but fighting them when their livelihood is at stake? That's tooth-and-nail time. That's covering-for-each-other time. Make sure people know there's life after transfer, that there are opportunities suitable for them, and they'll probably even be relieved to take them, and happier to be doing what they can really do well.

  44. Zuckerberg, Dorsey and the rest need to give power to users, instead of imposing their own views. "Trust and safety" settings should be client-side, not server-side. Want to protect users from "harmful" speech? Give users the ability to set their filter words, give users the ability to set the accounts they're filtering / ignoring. An additional feature should be presenting data that indicates a user's "isolation level" -- metrics that show how much of an echo chamber a user would be choosing to leave themselves in, with the filters they have set for themselves. This seems to me to be a position that respects both those who put a high value on Free Speech, and folks who put a high value on Trust and Safety. Simultaneously, it empowers users. What's not to like?
