"The Singularity" has been approaching for quite some time. I think people overestimate anyone's ability to predict anything, which means we hit a "Singularity" every fifteen minutes or so.

"Each side has things it will fight for" Yeah, but the soy side is much, much smaller than the side that just wants to afford to get married (by the only real definition of the term, as we recognized prior to 2013) and have kids. Now that the soy side has lost its funding in the form of USAID money, and the rich business / investor types have noticed that they can't continue to both cater to the soy side and remain rich business / investors, we should see the soy side go out of fashion faster than disco.
