"How could this not be anything but a home run? Why did they cancel these shows?" You need to watch some videos from the channel "Call me Chato" -- he's a former network executive who appears on Midnight's Edge from time to time -- where he goes through old TV guides outlining the premiers for that season. He talks about which ones get canceled (and why), and points out ones that everyone thought would work, but didn't.

"The thing that led to the second world war" Enormous war loans to England and France that could not be paid off without charging Germany massive reparations which were resented to the point that the Germans elected a party that consistently swore not to pay them? The centuries-long development of siloed imperial trade networks protected by navies whose inevitable competition (according to Alfred Thayer Mahan) led to an arms race that determined all geopolitical realities, which Germany had sought to overturn ever since their unification in 1870? Or are you talking about something that didn't even start until after the second world war began? I'm not blaming you here, I'm just curious where you get your information from, it's important in terms of figuring out who's pushing this particular a-historical narrative.
