Including 0.75% of the population at the cost of excluding 75% of the population, is not a good business move. Nor is it really a victory for inclusivity.

They have to avoid getting their lines of credit cut off, from banks that require high ESG scores for borrowing

"They have babysitter-level movies - turn on Disney+ and you get two hours away from your kids" But it's "creepy ideologue babysitter" stuff now, that no parent wants their kids exposed to.

@Spamkromite Yeah, you can't help but think that destroying American icons like Disney (and Bud Lite) is either the second-best outcome aside from capturing them, or was the plan all along.
24
This new Disney needs to die, so that the old Disney can be reborn.
21
Yup. If Conservatives want to win, we have to break the ESG racket.
19
Pretty much. Although it would have been something else along the same lines, if it hadn't been that. They've just shown their true colors.
14
@ldc3214 DeSantis, and hundreds of millions of consumers who cried out in disgust, and boycotted Disney.

I dunno, I think the Kathleen Kennedy saga could make for some d**n fine storytelling. She's the best Disney villain they've had in years.

Disney will only recover when they realize that Kathleen Kennedy was one of their villains all along. Careerist ideologues like her need to be the but of every joke and the villain of every story, until humanity forgets they were ever fashionable.

@stpbasss3773 They've drunk the Kool-Aid, and convinced themselves that because they have a platform to spew their ideas from, audiences will all change their minds. They are surprised to find that this is not the case, which explains this entire situation.

There's a lot of good wholesome content in Disney, that should be protected and promoted. Some of us still have hope that there is a cure.

@RealZerenaFan Environment - Social - Governance -- they're three categories of ideological hoops that companies have to jump through to get a good "ESG Rating". You've got to cut the amount of energy you use whether you're wasting any or not. You have to artificially prop up the "influencers" the banks demand, or pay for a plane ticket for someone the bank tells you. You have to have X many of whatever demographic on your board (and hey presto! The bank has someone, usually an activist, to recommend). It's a method of controlling companies and pushing an agenda.

First they need some good shows. Nothing Woke will license well.

@Sochi_Mochi Pop the popcorn now, we're seeing the beginnings of their fall. =)
2
@DeathsjesterKMNP Take your money out of their banks Take your money out of their retirement funds There are things we can do. =)
2
"How do you screw up Disney+?" - You pretend that the Disney Channel had what it took to become a network - Or you try to bulk up by buying a bunch of properties to that appeal to boys as well as girls, but you proceed to wreck them with Woke / feminist ideology

"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country." -- General George S Patton

Strangely enough, they might even get Whoopi Goldberg to approve.
1
@mickeymickey9914 Because everyone knows Kathleen Kennedy is about as Jewish a name as you can get? You're full of s**t.

@despicabledavidshort3806 You've drunk too much of the Woke Kool-aid, claiming that everything in the past was closeted. Disney is famous for boy-meets-girl stories, and cartoons that were straight-up pro-American propaganda. Nah, don't let them convince you there was never anything great about Disney, or America, or anything else. That's just their way of demoralizing you. We've been great before, and we'll be great again. Have faith, and keep your powder dry!
1
@JA-zh5xi Yeah, but it also shows you what corporations are going to pay politicians to make laws about.
1
Yup. The streaming wars will end with two big competitors who amalgamate all the rest.
