The period of time between the Apollo program (1969) and the present day (2023), has a much slower pace of technological and social change than the period between the completion of America's Transcontinental Railroad (1869) and 1923. Anyone with a contrary position is just trying to grease your brain to accept whatever social change (mostly depraved, mostly unwise) they happen to support.
