"It is not a revolution that will upend the way the EU works" I think you underestimate both the depth and the breadth of discontent with the EU, especially the Mandarinate model of unaccountable and omnipotent bureaucrats they seem to currently favor.

"Fear, chaos, wrong information" Ah, we're talking about climate change predictions based on inevitably unreliable computer models, aren't we. Wasn't it enough to discredit the models, when in 1990 they claimed that temperatures would go up 10-15 degrees C by 2020? Of course not, because enough people blindly believed them to make it politically useful to maintain the charade.

"There's almost no aspect of policy that isn't covered by EU legislation" There's your problem then. The EU needs to have its scope severely curtailed. That is, if you want the EU to exist at all. Europe needs a Constitutional Convention, to put limits on the EU's power and reach.
