Comments by "Jim Luebke" (@jimluebke3869) on "Why I'm Done With Twitter (or 'X' or whatever you call it) || Peter Zeihan" video.
Data shows that it was not "overhyped".

"Well, I'm done with Twitter... But I'm still going to be on Twitter" - Basically any Lefty Twitter addict.

@enmass90 Yeah, it was much, much smaller, and less well-informed.
23
To be fair, it's probably a net positive for us for now that he interacts with those sorts, there are some insights into their thinking that leak out through Peter from time to time, that would never get carried in the legacy media. The more he parrots Establishment talking points though, the lower his signal-to-noise ratio gets. Peter needs another good deep dive into some more huge data sets, to get his head right again.
15
Yup. YouTube is not great either, algorithmically. You have to get a good list of Subscribed channels, and curate your "recommended videos" aggressively (excluding channels that routinely lie to you, and videos you aren't interested in) to get YouTube to give you useful content. Also, NEVER go to the front page, and ALWAYS scroll down through a few dozen videos when you search, to make sure you're not just getting what Algo wants to feed you.

Twix, at its best, should be the world's biggest snowball fight.

He's at his best when he's digging into infrastructure and demographic data. When he's parroting Establishment talking points, he's still interesting, because you get to see a bit more in terms of how the Establishment justifies its own positions (i.e., globalism and "favorable labor cost profiles") than you do in the regular stream of legacy media babble.

@taiidaniblues7792 Rogan asks a lot of questions, and does a lot of listening. Some of it is a little fringe, but there's a lot of good stuff there, especially if you're a little bit choosy about which 3-hour chunks you're going to listen to. You'd be far, far ahead of where you'd be if you'd spent the time listening to Don Lemon or Dr. Fauci instead.
5
Yeah, signal-to-noise of zero (censorship) is the worst possible situation.
5
I'm thinking that there's nothing more American than spontaneous order, built by people informed by their own experience and honest debate.
5
Peter is blob-adjacent. He still has an independent opinion formed from digging into the data, but he still has a lot of received wisdom from the Establishment. Things have gotten worse as his profile has increased, and exploitive people have noticed that Peter has a level of influence. The sorts of Establishment hacks who try to overrun and control every source of influence, are doing a number on Peter now.
4
When he sticks to the data, he's great. When he spouts Establishment talking points like this, he's not informative at all.
4
@seadkolasinac7220 If you could distinguish between a mainstream Conservative and a "right-winger" that might help you. The hammer and sickle is pretty extreme. It represents worse evil than the swastika.
4
Sometimes the truth seeps out, though. He's at his best when he's doing data analysis, not political commentary.
4
@designed84 Whenever he backs it up with data, I think he's still worth listening to. When it's just a regurgitation of Establishment talking points, not so much. Unfortunately we now have to be skeptical about when his data analysis confirms Establishment narratives, and look elsewhere to correct for whatever biases have crept into those conclusions.
3
We've been using it for a while, but with the French (long "a") pronunciation, with the term "policy wank".
3
@dancingferret6654 There are a LOT of Germans who are going to be very cold, and very angry, this winter. I don't think they will be very forgiving of the sort of German Establishment type that looked the other way, which is very likely why Ukraine had to take the fall here.
3
@gibu002 Says the poster who puts a singular article in front of a plural noun....
3
@Allaiya. How can you simultaneously follow The Narrative(TM) so religiously, and yet claim to be "independent"?
3
@Nunya-lz9ey Has he ever been Community Noted?
3
@ehlava Not what you'd expect from a thread with this many upvotes, eh? Make no mistake, Google / YouTube and Facebook have the same kind of commissars that we saw in the Twitter Files.
2
Fascinating how this made it to the top of the thread without a single "like" or "reply". It's almost as if YouTube is under the same kind of government / ideological control as we saw in the Twitter Files.
2
@Memfys Hard for someone with his eye for data NOT to know. Something's pushing him to try to be an "influencer" here, whether that's internal or external pressure I couldn't say. The problem is, his audience is by nature made up of people who like data, and when his political broadsides are not based on data, his audience pretty thoroughly rejects them.
2
@jughead88 Yeah, the alien stuff gets to be a bit much, sometimes. The fact that I filter his stuff fairly heavily and mostly listen to the people I recognize who aren't cranks, gives me a pretty high signal-to-noise. He's pretty good at "hold on, I thought you said" kind of questions to try to keep people consistent though, or to figure out the actual depth of their expertise, which is cool.
2
There are a scattering of posts here expressing this sentiment, but most (like yours) have no likes. Are you a bot, by any chance? If not, you should probably read a few of the more thoughtful posts here with hundreds of likes, and take their arguments into consideration.

@craigcj5953 Did they traffic in boys too?
1
@andrewdutton3831 He doesn't want to see it, partly because he's got Establishment friends whose worldview blinds him to it, and partly because Twitter supports free speech among people who do not support Peter's lifestyle choices.
1
@stephenderry9488 You have to wonder, though -- how much of the news from Ukraine is "Russian Disinformation" and how much of it is bad news for the Ukrainians that doesn't confirm Peter's priors? (Or rather, his new priors received from his Establishment friends, that are at odds with his original prior that "This has always been Russia's war to lose"?)
1
@andrewdearmas4346 It didn't really change my perspective on him, because he's been sending Establishment signals like this for a long time. He's at his best when he's dispassionately analyzing datasets for fascinating insights. It's usually possible to distinguish this from the times he's shilling for the Establishment, because he frequently comes to conclusions that are not in the interests of the Establishment (fracking is great, this was always Russia's war to lose, there's not enough lithium to cover wide rollout of EVs, solar and wind don't work where the sun don't shine and the wind don't blow, demographic collapse is a problem, etc).
1
Sad but true
1
He's just so much better when he's concentrating on the data. I wonder how much of this "Russian disinformation" is just "bad news about how things are going for Ukraine"?
1
Serious data analysis FTW =)
1
@taiidaniblues7792 Destructively resentful against anything white, male, straight, Christian, etc.
1
The future of the Algorithm is to put it into the hands of each user.
1
@keithf8649 Yes. When you get 100% censorship, your signal is zero, so your signal-to-noise is zero. If the cost of more signal is more noise, you can still better off, that's why it's a ratio.
1
@BizAutomation4U I still listen to Steve because I need some good news from time to time. It more than makes up for the fact that the man looks like a gerbil.
1
It's nice to see Elon encouraging other people to pursue their talents. Bob Iger has certainly shown a penchant for f**king himself (and Disney stockholders) by failing to fire incompetent Woke executives like Kathleen Kennedy and the entire "Reimagine Tomorrow" initiative. $500M down the drain, this month alone...
1
Only, usually when they use the term "wank", they use the French pronunciation with the long "ah" sound -- as in, "Policy Wank".
1
@MattHall1 What did you see in particular in his reply that was not "objective"? Your low-information-content post is not very useful -- and probably doesn't do much to convince most people on this channel, who are here to find high-information-content material.
1
@alexven92 Spontaneous Order is a lot more American. The Empire has to fall, for the Republic to survive.
1
You should probably use a profile picture with less makeup. Maybe try an object instead of a face.
1
To be fair, we could probably do without TikTok.
1
@FutureCommentary1 Right, they want you to believe that X misinforms you, and all the "cool" people are leaving.
1
@user-dj4fd5vc6c Gasp! Faint Anything but mainstream conservative!
1
Peter, are you sure it's "Russian disinformation" and not the Ukrainians actually losing?
