Another relevant quote here: "Another such victory, and we are undone." - Pyrrhus of Epirus (from which we get the term "Pyrrhic victory".)

"This war needs to be taken more seriously" In other words, escalation. In other words, World War Three.

Really? Hasn't Peter said on every other occasion, "Russia is in a state of demographic free-fall"? Neither Russia nor Ukraine has "men to spare". Neither country will be in a better place 10 years from now, in ANY scenario where they don't have a negotiated peace ASAP. Zelensky could lead a coalition of European powers to conquer Moscow itself, and he would be just another Napoleon, having wrecked the lives of not just hundreds of thousands, but millions or tens of millions, of men who could otherwise be at work building up their country and having families. Again, there is no battlefield victory for either party that could bring about as much benefit, as peace.

@JohnnyMotel99 Has your brother ever heard of a donnish gentleman by the name of Alfred Thayer Mahan? The Pax Americana and the hegemony it implies, is the only thing keeping great power competition from breaking out into a new world war or two. Is our government shamefully neglecting the well-being of the American people, that is necessary for us to back such an enterprise? Sure, you could make a good case there. More than one thing can be true. (See: Pericles' Funeral Oration, for a rundown of what makes a country proud enough to fight for its values).

@LizardSpork And yet, they're in better shape than the Ukrainians are, on that score. There is no possible battlefield victory for either side that would benefit them more than simply making peace ASAP.

@sburns2421 Not "decimated". Rather, "eradicated".

@FinianLohbar Can you see any "win" state for either side, that gains them more than simply making peace to preserve what lives they can? Both countries are in a state of demographic free-fall. Continuing this war can't do anything for either side, than make that worse.

"Tucker is used to test things before more serious people say them" Who is "using" Tucker in this way? Seems to me he's the freest of free agents. Is this just how the Establishment can't help thinking?

I don't think we need to escalate into World War 3 here. It sounds like we've already pushed Putin into the position of Pyrrhus of Epirus -- "One more such victory, and we are undone". Demographics are already collapsing in Eastern Europe. This is just a civil war in a leper colony -- needless human suffering, where victory does not gain anyone anything as much as peace would.

@blazej799 Ever heard the truism, "The enemy gets a vote"? "Pushing the Russians out" = World War 3. More than one thing can be true; I'm not sure "pushing Russia out" can be one of them, though. As Peter said repeatedly, this was always Russia's war to lose, and unless we escalate to World War 3, I'm pretty sure they're not going to. Not sure anyone wins WW3, though. You're not old enough to remember the lessons of the Cold War, I'm guessing.

@blazej799 Fascinating. YouTube doesn't like replies to your comment.

@blazej799 Do do what you say, would require escalation to the point of World War 3. More than one thing can be true.

@blazej799 The almighty algorithm? These really are very simple replies... I'm not even saying you're wrong. I'm just saying I'm not wrong either.
