  1.  @linda1lee2  And I've done safety work (ISO 26262, etc) on automated cars. You have to drive (or accurately simulate the driving) of about 5 BILLION miles before you can have a 90% confidence that that individual build of the software with that individual hardware configuration is safer than a human driver. The cowboys in Silicon Valley, at least before I left, had nowhere near this level of simulation capability, nor did they have any intention of ever developing it as far as I could see -- which is one of the reasons I left.
