"The Chinese know that all they have to do is flatter Trump during negotiations, after which they can just ignore everything that they just discussed" ... Doesn't that say more about the (in)competence of subordinates who are supposed to follow up on policies set by Trump, than it does about Trump himself?

"People who got their jobs by going on long walks together" ... Says the man whose job involves going on long walks?

"The tariff on China has to go along with building up industrial plant in the United States, or all sorts of horrible things will ensue." Yes. Another way to saying "build up industrial plant in the United States" is to say "bring jobs back to America." Trump is way ahead of you there. And if you want to point out that these factories will be extremely efficient and may not employ that many people, all I have to say is, why in the world are you against having massively productive factories here in the United States? Because it's marginally cheaper someplace else? By the way, having extremely productive factories Stateside will have another wonderful effect -- shoring up the value of the dollar as a reserve currency. The dollar made sense even back in the 1970s when it stopped being backed by gold or some "market basket" of other currencies, and started being backed purely by the industrial output of the United States. The decline of the industrial output of the United States has put the dollar on very, very shaky ground. We need to rebuild the foundation there.

"A broad tariff would cause inflation" Which is why that tariff needs to be coupled with a winding-down (or possibly the elimination) of the federal income tax.

@MarionFR Are you talking about the guy whose tagline used to be, "You're fired", when someone failed to be up to the job? Yeah, that went missing during his first administration. I don't expect that to be missing this time around. He'll probably start with the Clinton cronies, then show the Obama ideologues the door. If there are any globalists left at that point, out they go too.

@ It was actually a retreat.

@benvoncamp You mean like China's? Or the United States in the 19th century?

@ "I'm arbitrarily categorizing your examples as something irrelevant, therefore I am dismissing them." Yeah, sorry. Pull out some actual examples if you're serious.
