  2. You skipped something there -- what, exactly, are Independent voters (who are massively conservative-leaning at this point) wanting to avoid, with Trump? If most of the "independents" you talk to are government bureaucrats who are (jusifiably) afraid Trump is going to come in and fire most of the DC expert class (much to the benefit of everyone else in the country), you might be talking to an unrepresentative sample of independents.

  5. If a third party candidate couldn't break through in 2016, it just isn't going to happen. Trump is a lot more popular with Americans than the legacy media and leftwing independent media can conceive of, because they can't conceive of anyone actually loving America.

The way I see it, information technology has thrown us into another crisis - "how do we maximize the generation and distribution of accurate information / news / expertise" is a question for a new Cold War, much like material goods was the central question of the last Cold War. Peter is part of the expert class, which can take the form of authoritarian bureaucrats (mandarins). Trump is a phenomenon born of resentment of the mandarin type. Of course Peter's style of public expert consultancy doesn't put him in that category, and may even point the way to a new kind of expert that is more palatable to the public. Instead of pushing faceless dictates from on high, he seems to "encourage" and "warn" even as he "is consulted", which some might recognize as a very old English common law formula for preventing tyranny.

  11. I saw some "Killer Asteroid 2016" stickers, but then the next few years didn't turn out so badly -- until Trump decided to hand policy over to the Scientific-Technological Elite, and things went to h*ll. I think Trump has learned his lesson. Clearly Biden hasn't.

  13. Peter, please carefully consider the possibility that it's not that we necessarily like Trump so much, it's that the Washington establishment is of, by, and for the "urban creative" class. They have been pursuing World Systems Theory to the severe detriment of 97% of the country, who prefer suburbs / rural life, industrial work, tradition, family, actual democracy, etc. I know that would require you to be critical of your own kind, but please consider -- Biden's real constituency is maybe 3% of the population. The rest are useful idiots.
