@SignalCorps1 Germany has been in "phases of terminal demographic decline" before -- the aftermath of the 30 Year's War being one notable example. All it's going to take is a generation willing to roll up their sleeves (or do something with their clothes, at any rate) and follow the example of the great composer Johann Sebastian Bach, having 20 children or so. No farm-dweller he, old JS founded a family business of composing and chamber music ensembles. This attitude that "children are just noisy furniture," rather than loved and cherished parts of the family, the end purpose of material wealth, and humanity's literal future, is part of the extremely toxic point of view that (I have to say it) people of Peter's orientation are pushing on the rest of society.

@TR4R "Trained to work in factories"? If only. They're trained to exist in factories, but if you think they're being trained in the finest tradition of German craftsmanship, you're in for a sore disappointment.

@careylymanjones It's not that hard to get out, you just have to have dedication, patience, and willingness to face short-term pain. Well, and you have to tell all the people saying it's impossible that they can go to h*ll, and take their anti-natalist ideas with them.

This is the only way to close the wealth gap in this (or any) country. We must let wages rise. "But then companies will just automate!" Yes, and other terms for that, are "raising efficiency" and "increasing productivity", which will increase real per capita income in this (or any) country. Prices will remain low (and even drop) for whatever is easy to automate, and prices will rise for whatever is difficult to automate, which is where people will find employment, at higher wages. We'll be okay.
