  1.  @toddhupp  I've talked with people here in Silicon Valley about that, and they say that there's simply too much risk that things will go back to business as usual with cheap Chinese labor. If Trump gets another 4 years and we end up with some laws that are frankly protectionist towards American small manufacturing, that would do the trick. Without that, the deal doesn't look permanent enough.

  3. Yeah, hardware was horribly neglected in the dot-com age. No wonder -- risks were high, and profit margins were (comparably) tiny, compared to apps and websites.
