Luntz to populists: "Shut up and let the elites run your lives."

"Populism divides" No. The poison of Elitism divides. Populism is the antidote. Get rid of the poison, you don't need the antidote.

"You don't have cops killing kids the way we have in the United States." The United States doesn't have "cops killing kids the way we have in the United States". In the entire country of 325 million, police kill unarmed black people at a rate of *one per month*. That's it. And they're prosecuted when they do, in an attempt to reduce that number to zero. When we decided to police less aggressively, the homicide rate among black kids in a SINGLE CITY in a SINGLE WEEKEND increased to eliminate any gains we may have had, with police pulling back. Luntz, your authority as a statistician is severely jeopardized by the fact that you have swallowed the BLM narrative wholesale, when that narrative is just WRONG.

"You don't need Woke; you don't need populism" Of course the UK needs populism -- they needed Brexit, to avoid a takeover by the Authoritarian Bureaucrats of Brussels. There are still some (many, possibly majority) Authoritarian Bureaucrats in London, that need to be turfed out. Liberty simply cannot coexist with the degree of State control that these petty tyrants wish to exercise. I think there may be more hope for Britain, because there is already a well-established formula for constraining the rights of would-be tyrants to a very few: to Advise, to Be Consulted, and to Warn. Covid is showing us just how at-risk the principle of Informed Consent has become. Unless we impose the above formula on government "experts", Liberty will vanish.

"[Cancel culture] will not end until university professors tell their students that there is a right way and a wrong way to deal with information they disagree with." Trouble is, too many of those professors are Marxists who taught the students to do what they're doing, and most of the rest are people who know how to keep their heads down, especially when they disagree with Marxists. That's how we got into this mess.

"If you don't think America is great, tell me why, because I want to fix it." Be careful who you ask this of, and their motives for criticizing America. Some critics are not well intentioned. Those critics must be ignored.

@Saddamuel I agree, sometimes anger is inappropriate. Sometimes the proper response is rage.

"It should be up to the universities and students to decide [what kind of civil rights people should have on their campus]" Should it be up to universities and students to decide to exclude [insert minority here]? We'd never have integrated schools, with an attitude like that.
