  1. I was always taught that if you actually get table service -- they deliver you your food and clear your plates for you -- then you tip. Otherwise, I suppose tipping is just a way to get the barrista's phone number.

What we have in America is a ruling class that is raised to believe that human beings who do not pass all of these tests do not deserve equal dignity. This is incredibly destructive to our social fabric, and breeds the sort of resentful populism that the GoodFellows fear so much, and that (self-righteously) terrifies our political Establishment.
