And, the LP, IS back, in a BIG way! Some people are spending over $10,000 for new turntables. (And all of them are still all-analog, none of the good ones even output a digital signal.)
I still have hundreds of old LP's, each one in it's own protective 'Angel Cover'; we tossed the paper sleeve the album came in on the first play, (unless it had art-work on it). I just wouldn't buy the album if I couldn't put it in a proper sleeve the first day!
In fact, in the 90's, just as digital media was entering its heyday, specialty LP producers like Sheffield Labs started selling Direct-To-Disc LP's at MUCH higher quality than production LP's of the same title. Costing many times more than the regular pressings instead of direct from Master Tape, the difference in audio quality was amazing, (when played on full-range speakers).
Then along came compressed audio formats like mp3 and earbuds and true audio quality and dynamic range, was lost.
Hehe - yeah, I guess I am a dinosaur - I modernized to 'the new digital technology' back in the day - - but kept my old collection!
