  152. Lots of old soviet junk out there too Anna - and lots of mobiks have been forced into the old T64's and sent to the meat grinder... The Leopard 2's are all vastly superior to any of the 'T series tanks' and will quickly change the course of this battle. Fourteen MBT's are usually grouped together in a battle group - so I think that's why 14 (or 15, including a spare) are being sent at a time. Canada has 120 + Leopard 2 MBT's and I have written my Member of Parliament requesting Canada send 14 plus 1 to Ukraine - now! It was unfortunate that Germany was slow to approve - even to other countries to send theirs. But it's happening now. It's late but it's coming. To try and FORCE the USA to send Abram's tanks - was foolish. Abram's tanks are wonderful and even bigger MBT's than the Leopard 2's - but - they have VERY different powertrains than all other tanks - they require jet fuel instead of diesel fuel - and a LOT of it. And they use turbine engines - so totally different to work on - and need to be almost totally taken apart to do major servicing. It's not the right MBT, now, for Ukraine. And let's face it - the USA has already sent THREE times as much iron as ALL other countries - combined. And Challenger 2's and Abrams are fabulous tanks - but they add to the complexity of the mixed fleet UAF is going to have to maintain and repair - but I understand that many German people had issue with 'German tanks rolling across Ukraine - again'. They're over it now. So - here come the Leopards !! And if more Challenger 2's and Abram's are coming too - - the UAF will find a way to keep them running and in the action. I will send you a great video from a YT'er who recently did a great episode on how to tell the difference between the basic types of this equipment. He has 20 + years in the field and is an instructor - Ryan makes it easy to understand. And - yes - 'Track-type undercarriage' or 'tracks' (or Caterpillars) is the system these super heavy machines move on. They are steel belts, made by joining individual solid steel 'grousers' that dig into the ground as they move heavy equipment. They are pulled slowly by the rear sprocket - and they have steel roller wheels on the bottom to support the huge weight of the MBT's - but they can go through almost anything with a firm bottom (not mud). (I used to sell Caterpillar construction machinery). Rubber tire machines - like the Canadian Senators (200 being sent) and US Strykers and other Personnel Carriers can have rubber tires. When the traction is better, (like dry fields or basic dirt roads) tired machines can go MUCH faster. But their limitations are much less weight of the vehicle and much less intense terrain. There are always trade-offs.If you want more armour - you need a heavier package to move it. So a bigger engine to haul it - and a bigger fuel tank - etc, etc. Systems... So glad to see you full of passion again - - and you look great in your wonderful leopard scarf!! I will try and forward Ryan's episode on identification - funny and easy to understand. Thank YOU Dr. Anna. In spite of all you have been through - - here you are - SO strong for your country and your cause! Many of us are too. Millions and millions - are - with - you! Slava Ukraini. Heroyam Slava! With love and support from BC Canada. I hope YT let's me paste this - - Ryan's episode on identification of these things... https://youtu.be/hEna9T4zSM0 #freetheleopards
