Personally I just wish my taxes weren’t being used to so heavily subsidize cars and their required infrastructure. If those free loaders want to drive around so bad they can pay for it themselves
11
@Tammy10018 pov: you dont know what you’re talking about
9
Yeah fossil fuel subsidies are pretty ridiculous
7
Yeah fossil fuel subsidies are pretty ridiculous aren’t they
7
@Amonynous nope, not even close my dude, even at the low estimates, something like 41% of the lifetime cost of a car is subsidized, parking is even worse
7
Long expensive construction time, ongoing maintenance costs, long expensive decommissioning. And unstable countries need power too, unless you want to give Somalia fissile material Commercial fusion will not happen in our lifetime
6
Then you don’t know very much but thank you for sharing your uninformed opinion
6
Except no one is dumping fossil fuels in one fell swoop but whatever
6
Just wait till you learn just how much fossil fuel are subsidized(hint it’s billions more than renewables). And do you know how much nuclear costs? Both to build and decommission “Renewables are far worse for the environment” source: trust me bro
6
@rw-xf4cb sounds like using oil as fuel is a waste of valuable resource then!
4
“Benefits are minimal to nonexistent” pov: you have no idea what you’re talking about “Costs of net neutral are literally astronomical” source: trust me bro
4
Ignore how the summers are getting hotter if you’re too fragile for that
3
Source: it was revealed to me in a dream
3
@alexanderharoldsen4178 “complete overhaul of all infrastructure” I don’t think you know what the words complete, overhaul or infrastructure mean “Namely the power storage issue” hmm, if only there was some way to store electricity, oh well, we can dream “CO2 levels dangerously close to the threshold where plants stop growing” citation desperately needed “No backing in observable evidence” pov: you have no idea what you’re talking about. Do you think co2 or ch4 being IR active is a conspiracy?
3
@maxsordi “doesn’t make them renewable” do you not know what the word renewable means? “They use forever chemicals, are toxic” man just wait till you learn about these things called fossil fuels and this technique called fracking. “Break down easily and have to be replaced often” citation needed
3
Shit take tbh
3
@pindapoy1596 hmm, I wonder if there might be a way to repurpose a pad that once had a wind turbine on it……probably not
2
@ColonelSanders17 ‘I’m nit the fragile one here” yeah, that’s definitely how this makes you look, not fragile at all. 10/10
2
The down side of oil companies having less money
2
Oh no, good thing a nations electrical grid isn’t already incredibly complicated, that’s just not possible
2
@grahamstevenson1740 fascinating and totally relevant, good job on the reading there buddy. Did you know there are countries on the world other than America and Britain? Crazy but it’s true
2
@KevinSolway source: trust me bro
2
Did Russia cut of Europe’s main supply of solar panels or natural gas?
2
Source: trust me bro
2
@MinkieWinkle except nuclear takes decades, costs billions, produces more expensive electricity, costs more billions to decommission and isn’t suitable to politically unstable countries
2
Clean coal doesn’t exist
2
Source: trust me bro
2
POV: you don’t understand what you’re talking about
2
@Scottar50 uh, what materials do you think we’re running out of?
2
“Renewables cannot run a country” citation needed
2
Except you don’t, agrivoltaics are very much a thing, some crops benefit from being grown in partial shade
2
Which one? There are far too many SMR designs out there to realize the purported benefits
1
@MinkieWinkle that’d be great if we had time but we don’t. And Fusion is only twenty years away remember
1
@MinkieWinkle I was being facetious about fusion. While it would have been great for the west to continue building reactors en masses and not stopping after Chernobyl, fact is the didn’t continue and now the reactors built in the Cold War are nearing the end of their useful lifespans. To build more reactors will take years to decades and cost billions, the electricity they produce will no longer be the cheapest electricity available and at the end of their lives the decommissioning will take yet more years and cost yet more billions. None of that spells “best option”
1
Uhm, do you not know about solar panels? Or nuclear power? Or hydro? Or wind? Or tidal? Or geothermal?
1
josemercado3063 Which of those things do you think can’t be done by electricity?
1
Citation needed
1
@markhutton6055 source : trust me bro
1
Please take your meds
1
@jp5000able citation needed
1
@georgehetty7857 do you think that CO2 or CH4 being IR active is a conspiracy? “Huge industry reliant on net zero” lmao my dude you wanna talk huge, just wait till you learn about this thing called the fossil fuel industry
1
@rjones6219 do you not know that co2 is IR active? Or do you just not know what that means
1
Oh if only we had figured some way of storing energy
1
Citation needed
1
@HandleMitCare im sorry you find reading so difficult
1
@HandleMitCare well the first hint was you used doesn’t instead of don’t because you don’t know that the word data is plural. The second was you said that climate alarmist lie which means you have poor critical thinking skills in general and reading skill in particular. I bet you’re the sort of person who listens to the mainstream media and Greta thunberg without taking a second to think about it
1
@HandleMitCare well you said “data doesn’t” instead of “data don’t” so we’re starting off bad and then you say “climate alarmists lie” which tell me you listen to what the msm talking heads say without critical thought
1
There was a paper out of Oxford last September that showed how Britain could be powered solely by offshore wind, you should try reading sometime. “Lifespan of ten years” source: I made it up
1
@maxsordi source: it was revealed to me in a dream. But if you can prove it, please do so. The head author was Dr. Brian O’Callaghan
1
@maxsordi Prove it then
