@LowValueMan , when the time is right U.S. will abandon Taiwan just like it abandoned Afghanistan. Once TSMC finish building its fab in Arizona, U.S. doesn't need Taiwan anymore.

@andro7862 , dispute was an island in the middle of a river. It has been resolved. China entered a $ 400 billion agreement to purchase natural gas from Russia over 35 year period. Before Covid-19 pandemic, China was receiving 2 million Russian tourists annually.

@andro7862 , yes, the world is gray. It's not black and white. China hates no one. Trump's daughter registered her trademark in China to sell her line of cosmetic. Donald did not object. Anyway, relationship between Russia and China are the closest in 70 years. Russia was the very first country to recognized PRC when it was established in 1949.

@prayagmehta9738 , ASML is an system integrator. It either buy key subsystems from outside suppliers, or even acquired whole companies(Perkin-Elmer, Cymer). They use Mitsubishi CO2 amplifier lasers.

Visa are not required for Taiwanese to visit mainland China, and for mainland Chinese to visit Taiwan. 10% of Taiwanese work in mainland China, due to lack of employment opportunities in Taiwan.

@yue ma, most likely, China, will use the synchrotron free electron laser in research and development of Soft X-ray lithography. They will built EUV lithography tool similar to ASML to keep cost down.

@Ben23315 , China started research on EUV at academic institutions about 10 years ago. They have built an engineering demonstration prototype using LPP EUV light source. But it's far from being a practical industrial machine

@Ben23315 , I agree. I think the prototype is just a demonstration, from what I seen of its photo. Obviously it's not going to process 200 wafers /hr.
