I think you’re incorrectly assuming that his supporters can’t think for themselves. In general the left is much more critical of their leaders than the right. There is no Alex Jones equivalent (with his insanity and level of following) on the left, it just doesn’t exist. So if Hogg went nuts I don’t see the left blindly following him.

You make some great points, some responses here. “What will happen if the Center and the Right come together against a socialist” - They already have. Progressives have practically zero representation on mainstream news/print media, they were all fired/let-go from MSNBC long ago and WashPo finally hired 1 socialist op-ed writer. All we have on TV really is Nina Turner sometimes on CNN. They never needed a boycott because the centre/right is the establishment with all the power. In response to 1a; an absolutist argument, while convincing in practice, doesn’t mean it’s the right way to go about it. These situations are nuanced, so ultimately there is no absolutist argument - that’s the whole point. Human expression within culture is not math, you can’t quantify it, which is why every situation must be dealt with separately. 1b; fair point.

Agreed.

Of course you have the right to try and boycott me, but good luck lol. Because boycotts require a movement, they only work when there is actually a reason to boycott - and some make sense (Ingraham) and some don't (Maher in 2001, though that was exclusively advertiser-lead) depending on your view of said boycott. If Hogg tried boycotting Fox News host Chris Wallace for his opinion on Wall Street reform, Hogg's not going to get much traction. But in this situation, because it's common knowledge that Laura Ingraham is one of the most morally reprehensible people on television, a boycott was more successful.

Yeah random mic issue today, fixed it for tomorrow.

Okay good luck getting the support you need. You see, the thing with boycotts is they don't actually work unless there is a reason to boycott. A boycott wouldn't work on Fox News host Chris Wallace because there is no reason to boycott him, but Laura Ingraham is a morally reprehensible person, so a boycott on her show works.
