Wish I added: I still definitely encourage people to live sustainably the best they can, but if that’s a focus when attempting to grow movements it turns new people off. It makes people feel they can never be good enough, so they don’t even bother caring. If we can acknowledge that yes, if you can live sustainably then please do, without that being the focus of the movement (as the focus should be on substantial change through policy) then that’s how to move forward.

"To demand others change behavior.." - You've completely missed the point if you think that's what we're demanding.

Lol good question. I more meant it in terms of a renewed and focused attack on Bernie Sanders.

It’s sounds great on the individual level, but in attempting to grow movements it completely dismantles meaningful change and turns new people off. It makes people feel they can never be good enough, so they don’t even bother caring. If we can acknowledge that yes, if you can live sustainably then please do, without that being the focus of the movement (as the focus should be on substantial change through policy) then that’s how to move forward.

Lol, when I fell for that Al Gore stuff it was 10 years ago when I barely followed politics. I have no issues with Al Gore today.

It’s common knowledge that Macron is a neoliberal who’s faced criticism from the left since before he was elected - and his FUEL tax is a neoliberal policy that hurts the poor and middle class the most. We wanted Melenchon, the actual leftist in the race. Here’s one of many critiques of Macron from a leftist right after his election explaining this: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/may/08/emmanuel-macron-france-economics-neoliberalism

Cap and trade already worked to get rid of acid rain, it’s a proven method. Yes you can buy “polluting rights,” but there isn’t an unlimited number of them, and their cost is dictated by the market. Here’s more in detail: https://www.edf.org/climate/how-cap-and-trade-works
