Comments by "Axxe" (@Axxe80) on "Inside CERN’s ‘antimatter factory’ creating antihydrogen - BBC News" video.
If all of you who dislike science because of your religion - why not just join the Amish? Would at least save the world from more anti-science comments on the net.

Couldn't you conspxxxcy believers at least invent some new myths? That portals nonsense is getting really old and boring now.
3
Want some dressing for your incoherent word salad?
3
No, the name anti matter suggests nothing like that and merely references the opposite electrial charges of atom core and hull of antimatter.
2
What a complete nonsense 🤦♂
2
Not even possible.

They have a website and a youtube channel where the projects are explained.

And don't forget to wear your tinfoil hat...

@ZTVbrotha Being informed about what they are actually doing there and how their facilities work is the exact opposite of being naive. Naive is what you do: watching sensationalist clickbait videos with nothing but impossible fantasy tales without any proof whatsoever and then actually believing such BS. That is naive and really dumb.
2
@King-er7ef Nonsense. CERN = C onseil E uropéen pour la R echerche N ucléaire
2
@ZTVbrotha So you believe unfounded claims from some clickbaity nonsense online and are even unedcuted enough to not know that this b.s. is actually completly impossible 🤦♂🤦♀
2
@ZTVbrotha No, I just don't believe silly unfounded claims that are impossible, Mr. Dunning.
2
But from your intensive studies at YouTube University and Telegram College YOU know the truth 🤦♂

Your comment makes no sense at all. Here's why in short form: they do create antimatter in tiniest amounts to study its characteristics, so there's no "what if". And there is no "positive matter", there's just matter and antimatter. The difference between them is that matter atom have a core with a positive electrical charge and the electron shell with a negative electrical charge. For antimatter it's the other way round - negative electrical charge for the core and a positron shell with a positive electrical charge. Both types exist in the universe although matter is predominant and antimatter very rare.

@ImaginationInAPit ...or in other words: you have no clue what you're talking about and since you don't want to admit to have written nonsense you instead post some condescending rabulistic. 🤦♂
2
@paulanderson7796 Yeah you're right - actually it is a waste of time. Some people just want to believe something "non mainstream" in order to feel special, even if it's pure nonsense.

Your first statement seems incorrect to me as you obviously actually are intelligent and not missing a brain. The brainless folks come here, then just hear a word like "anti matter", decide that because it has "anti" in its name it has to be evil and than they declare their superstitious nonsense to be facts. (Same thing about CERN in general, about "black holes", about "dark matter", etc.) And they actually think that this has to be correct, as they are too dumb to be able to see that they're dumb (--> "Dunning Kruger effect"). Stating that something is beyond one own's comprehension is the opposite of that; in fact it is a sign of intelligence! TLDR: By your statement you actually showed that you are definitly NOT missing a brain!
1
Not really. This is foundational physics research - and from foundational research it's most of the time not clear what it would lead to - perhaps some time later it might have an impact to giving people decent meals, clear water, safe cars, housing, etc. Just imagine the time electricity was discovered and researched (or magnetism) it wouldn't have been done because they didn't have an immediate direct use for it. CERN isn't funded that heavily, it costs the individual tax payer in the member countries less than a small cup of coffee per year!
1
You think antimatter is something hellish because it has the prefix "anti" in it?!
1
There is nothing evil about scientific research. And financing CERN costs the tax payer in the member countries less than a cup of coffee - per year!

@AloneInThePark Sigh. Always the same, nonsensical old stories. Here's the short version about the points you and the OP bought up: 1) The CERN logo doesn't look in any way similar to three sixes. Or to say it more precise than necessary: If there were three sixes, there were three circles and three lines. It's two circles and five lines and matches exactly the schematics of the used particle accelerators. 2) Antimatter isn't anything nefarious just because its name (that CERN didn't choose). It's called that way as its electrical charge is the exact opposite of normal matter. 3) The "portal" story is really absurd. A silly claim someone made somewhere on the net and despite being obviously fictitious you really believe in the existance of such nonsense? 4) No scientist called the Higgs-Boson "god particle". A book publisher invented that dumb term as a marketing ploy for a book. How's that CERN's fault? 5) Shiva isn't anything evil but one of the most important deities of the world's third largest (..and one of the oldest..) religions. The statue was a gift from India in commemoration of a long successful partnership, it's not "out the front" but inside their premises by the guest house and it's just one of many pieces of art exhibited on the area.

That was directly before the unicorns got extinct. But at least Elvis is still alive!
1
@thf1933 What I wrote was still way more believable than the nonsense you posted.
1
Black holes are collapsed stars and antimatter is like matter but with the electrical charge reversed. And it's beyond me where you suspect a connection between these two different things.
1
Because, of course, YOU know better...
1
So you're scared about antimatter because you think its name means it's something evil. Correct?
1
No.
1
No one is "trying to prove god doesn't exist". First someone would have to prove that god exists... Nevertheless: both is not the purpose of CERN.

Get well soon and don't forget your pills again.

creepypastas =/= reality
1
@ak101farhan The fact that you don't even have what is considered general knowledge about this does not mean that it doesn't exist or you even know better than top notch scientist. It only proves the Dunning Kruger effect.
1
@ak101farhan It's foundational research. If, when or for what it will be useful is normally not known. And your generic rant about schools and all that BS is just ignorant. Btw: How do you even think you know where I got which information? smh
1
@ak101farhan Don't know where your obvious hatred against CERN comes from (I was literally just waiting for you to start talking about opening "portals" to hell or nonsense like that), but research about the very essence of what matter is is the perfect definition for foundational research. But because YOU can't imagine any purpose of research anyone has to agree that it's a waste of money. Because YOU know best and YOU are the only instance entitled to make such a determination that everyone else has to believe. Plonk & EOD.
