Comments by "Axxe" (@Axxe80) on "Scandal in Germany: Scholz wants to send fighter jets to Arabs, but not to Ukraine" video.
Scholz couldn't change it even if he wanted to. The 24 jets were ordered in 2018, a german company holds only 33% on the consortium producing the fighter and these 24 planes for Saudi Arabia are assembled in UK. What do you expect - Germany invading Great Brittain to steal the 24 jets for Ukraine?!

I'm actually pretty biased against Scholz because I think his behaviour blocking deliveries of german made tanks by other countries was horrible. But in this case: The Eurofighters in question are NOT from the german stocks of that aircraft. These 24 newly built Eurofighters were ordered by Saudi Arabia in 2018 and are built and delivered by the multinational Eurofighter consortium in which Germany is only one part of many - to be more precise: Airbus Germany (Germany) 33%, BAE System (UK) 33%, Leonardo (Italy) 21% and Airbus Spain (13%). And noteworthy too is the fact that the machines intended for Saudi Arabia will be assembled in UK and not in Germany.

Actually it's 72 in total with 48 already been delivered (level TR2) and 24 to be delivered (new level TR3A).

Although I'm actually pretty biased against Scholz' behaviour in regards to weapon deliveries, because I think the blockage of deliveries of german made tanks by other countries was horrible, the accusation in regards to the Eurofighter is actually pretty unfair. It was Scholz' party, the SPD, who fought and succeeded in blocking weapon deals with Saudi Arabia in general. (By the way: Relying on the BILD newspaper as a source is not the best idea. This paper has a very long history of publishing BS.)

Zelensky asked for the F16 and / or the Eurofighter and was also interested in the Australia's retired F18s or Sweden's older variants of the Gripen. I guess he just listed what possibilities he saw for acquiring jets, hoping to get one model out of the ones named (all being planes where older variants were retired not long ago / are to be retired soon).

@fighter77773 Of course that contract has to be honoured (and Germany couldn't decide otherwise even if it wanted).
