Not to mention implying that horticulture is agriculture, and using what is probably a a misleading statistic about arable land, considering we grow a fair amount of grapes, kiwifruit, corn, and other fruits and vegetables. Then also implying our immigration levels are fine and "scientific", after they've just noted how expensive housing is here. Not that that is the only problem with that. Like, the rest of the planet is overpopulated, we shouldn't want the same here.

  5. Kind of. They do have better Maori names which are slowly being used more and more, but yes, that's what the British called them and most kiwis refer to them as for the most part. The Maori names are, for the north island, Te Ika-a-Maui(The fish of Maui)and for the south either Te Waipounamu(the greenstone waters) or Te Waka-a-Maui(The canoe of Maui). Two of these are obviously from the fable in which Maui and his brothers went fishing and pulled up a great fish out of the ocean. Personally I prefer Te-Ika and Te-Waka, but racist white people will always demand it's "north" and "south", and south island Maori prefer Te Waipounamu for the south too from what I understand.

  16. Hmm.. Kind of incorrect. You're saying the "a" isn't pronounced when if pronounced correctly it should be. It is true that some people do pronounce it in a very muddled way, basically they pronounce the 'o' and 'r'(by rolling it with the trilled roll) correctly so they end up saying it in way that vaguely resembles the word "moldy". But you should kind of say the 'a', so it's like ma-ow-rrr-ee. You may be able to find a video of someone pronouncing it this way on YouTube if you look hard enough.

Firstly, while sometimes it may have been for sustenance, using the whole person, most of the time, they only ate the vital organs of their slain enemies for their "mana". Secondly, that isn't a "covered up fact", it's well known. Thirdly, Europeans were cannibals too. There was a lot of cannibalism in Germany as late as the 19th century, and in the 15th century a group of Dutch people murdered their prime minister and ate his vital organs, similar to what the Maori people did to their enemies.
