  1. I find it troubling that you think otherwise. There was once a time when there was consequences to speech which is where the enlightenment thinkers came along and said maybe we don't need gatekeepers of information such as the clergy, monarchy or state. What do you not understand about that?

Freedom of speech laws are traditionally negative rights, but they should be positive rights, and at least in the instance of violence in reaction to speech they employ a positive rights interpretation because the state WILL actually do something about it. Freedom from consequences should be EXACTLY what free speech means.

  5.  @darkstar4494  Of course the mild ones like people not wanting to be around you exist. Or boycotting your business. And of course libel and slander exist but there is a process involved with those. There's clearly still a higher degree of freedom we should be aspiring to, and in some ways we do already have protection in some regards.
